Hi, I have a 2003 35' bounder and am looking at replacing the carpet for the flooring too. your coach resembles ours very much. I watch the slide out come in and it is real close to the carpet and almost hits the carpet did yours? I was worried about the slide out scratching the new floor. Did you do it or have it done? I appreciate any help and your floor looks assume.

Clearance between the bottom of the slide and the surface of the floor covering is a problem in many Bounders, including mine. I understand there are riser blocks available to prevent them from touching but we took the easy route and just leave the 30" x 12' carpet runner on the floor which the slide um. slides on and have had no scratches from what little contact there is. Turns out that our dog needs the carpet runner anyway to get enough traction to jump up onto the couch.

I did have an issue with the lip of the slide not lifting enough before beginning its inward trip. You'll see a dark brown strip at the meeting point. That is painted plywood sub-floor and aluminum frame. It is not a very elegant solution. I am looking for something like a 4" wide flat rubber cove base type material I can glue down to the slide floor which would cover that 2" or so gap.

I used LVP and glued it down all the way to the firewall. It helped with the engine and fan noise. The sub-floor needs to be clean and dry with all holes filled with a flexible filler. There are a number of carriage bolts heads that are proud of the sub-floor and they must be ground flush. Dry fit the slide and main floor so you can decide where to make the cuts. You have lots of layout options: fore and aft like mine, east-west, diagonal or even herring bone. There are endless options for the flooring itself.

Consider that LVP is heavier than the carper and underpad so you may need to reduce the amount of junk you carry along with you. Good luck with your project!

I installed the riser blocks on my bounder and found that they have no effect on either the contact with the floor or the ease of getting the slide over the initial "hump" in the first foot or so of bringing it in, in fact there's no contact with the blocks during the first few feet when bringing it in.

I followed the installation directions exactly and they don't seem to do anything at all. They might work on another year, but not mine (2006).
