Bounder Folks

Hey all.

I have a 1992 Fleetwood bounder that got towed after it lost power to the engine. It would idle but not go. It sat in a field for 2 years and the batteries had been removed. It started when I had it in the field but I had no 12v to the lights and fridge. I found out that this was because one of the battery hook ups was black on the end but if you skinned the wire loom back a few inches you could see red. I had this on the ground terminal. I am looking for the equivalent of the main fuse for a car as right now I have nothing on the dash working and it will not crank. I took apart the cover to the fuse panel and took a test light to it and found that I have lights in a few places on it but I have no wiring diagram. It also has a key cut out switch that I am not sure if it works correctly in it and two switches in the cab that say aux and chassis cut battery cut out switches on them. Don't qoute me a hundred percent on that as It is something close to that. I was able to find out that the main 12v line for lights, fridge controls, and maybe some other stuff and label it and now I know what it is. I also have another one that when I plug it in the remote start to the generator works ok. Not sure what the other two are. they don't seem to do anything and are both red. Any words of wisdom would be helpful with people that are familiar with this vehicle.

It sounds like you are on the right track with respect to the wiring, but the fact that it would idle but not move suggests that it may have been towed without disconnecting the drive shaft, causing serious damage to the transmission. If that's the case, it might not be worth the effort to correct the wiring problems. In that case, I would be tempted to sell the parts and buy a working rig.

He disconnected the drive shaft. I watched him reconnect it on the other side. Honestly I am just trying to get this thing running long enough to put the auto leveling gear down as we are going to have one of our adult kids in it for a few weeks this Christmas. I just need to find the stupid main fuse. I may try to see if I can hand over hand the line back from the starter to where it comes from.

So, after getting it home I found out that the wires to the main battery were the wrong color. The positive was black and the negative was a light blue. It was also going through a key isolation gizmo that was pretty old and not doing what it was supposed to. I removed it and bypassed it to wire it in correctly. After I got that figured out I re-routed the chassis 12v line to the main battery. I had it plugged into the house battery originally. I found 3 blown fuses and one that was replaced with the wrong size fuse. I got all these dealt with and now I have to do some clean up on the wiring harness. It was a mess. The PO had left it as a complete rats nest. Now, the only issue it has is the house batteries do not seem to be charging. I need to figure out if I have another blown fuse somewhere or if the charger is broken.
